Weekly Shinchou explores NMI jungles, waters
Exploring the jungles, caves, and turquoise blue waters of the Northern Mariana Islands was top on the agenda for Weekly Shinchou, a weekly magazine reaching nearly 500,000 businessmen and women in Japan.
Writer Yumi Yamaguchi and photographer Jun Nishimura visited Saipan and Tinian Mar. 21 – 26, 2009, to prepare a three- to five-page article to run in an April or May issue of the magazine. Their itinerary included a tour to beach hotspot Managaha Island, isolated Forbidden Island, snorkeling with turtles and treks into the jungle.
“Weekly Shinchou had a particular interest in what the jungles of Saipan and Tinian have to offer the adventurous visitor, and we were happy to share that with them,” said Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Perry Tenorio. “It is our hope that the natural beauty and historic treasures found in our islands will entice their readers to visit.”
The familiarization tour was supported by MVA, Pacific Micronesia Tours/Tasi Tours and Fiesta Resort & Spa. The estimated value of the coverage is $54,000-$90,000. (MVA)
