Jets zoom past Lion King, 13-1
Defending champion Jets continued their mastery over Kagman Lion King with a 13-1 win on Sunday in the Senior Division of the 2009 Saipan Little League at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield.
It was the Jets’ third win in three meetings this year against the Lion King and they are right on track to retaining the title.
Their current record is 9-1, bouncing back from the stigma of a 0-9 defeat to the Fielders last Saturday.
The loss to the Fielders snapped a 8-0 start for the Jets, the longest winning streak so far in the league.
Chris Meyers pitched for the Jets in their win against Kagman and was effective with six strikeouts. He allowed six hits with a run in the fourth by Anthony Taitano.
The Jets had total of seven runs in the top of the fourth.
After the Lion King’s scored on a run by Taitano with one out in the bottom of the fourth, Meyers retired the last two of three batters for the win.
Joshua Jones, the current pitching leader, didn’t need to go back to the mound as the Jets won in four innings via the mercy rule.
Jones finished with two runs, while Elijah Aughenbaugh went 3-for-3 with three runs. Tomas Camacho and Harry Nakamura added two apiece, while Keoni Lizama, Toby Fleming, and Marvin Ngeskebei came up with one each.
