Raymond Zapanta and Ron Cal claimed the Budweiser March King and Queen of the Lanes titles after Monday’s roll-offs at the Saipan Bowling Center.

Zapanta’s four-game total of 829 pinfalls in the first day of the tournament was unbeaten Monday allowing the former youth kegler to keep the March plum.

Richard Leong, who did not join Sunday’s roll-off, participated in the Monday event, but fell 30 pinfalls short with his 799 pinfalls and settled for second place.

Roger De Guzman, who also missed Sunday’s roll-off, placed third with his 773 pinfalls. Dannie Robles also totaled 773 pinfalls in four games, but De Guzman won in the tiebreak.

Seventeen male keglers competed for the March title.

Zapanta led the group with an average of 207.25 in four games, showing his best form in Game 4 with his 257 pinfalls. Zapanta also knocked down 200-plus pins in Game 3 with his 219. His lowest output was in Game 1 with 170 pinfalls, but he improved a bit in Game 2 with 183 pinfalls.

Leong’s best showing was in Game 4, too, tallying 214 pinfalls. He had 187, 205, and 193 in Games 1 to 3 for an average of 199.75. De Guzman averaged 193.25 after his 200-plus pinfalls in Games 2 and 3 (216 and 217), 182 in Game 1 and 154 in Game 4.

In the women’s division, Cal grabbed the Queen of the Lanes tiara from Sunday leader Diane Chong.

Cal collected 757 pinfalls in Monday’s roll-off to eclipse Chong’s 726 and take the March honors. Cal averaged 189.25 pinfalls after a 200-plus output in Game 2 (203), 199 in Game 1, 169 in Game 3 and 186 in Game 4. Chong also had a 200-plus performance with her 202 in Game 4. The erstwhile leader, who also joined the Monday roll-off, but scored only 620 pinfalls, had 180 in Game 1, 149 in Game 2, and 195 in Game 3 for an average of 181.50.

Adult bowlers can join both roll-offs, but only the higher score is counted.

Emi Williams placed third with her total of 712 pinfalls and average of 178. Williams recorded 190 pinfalls in Game 2 and 3, 169 in Game 1, and 163 in Game 4.

Diane Camacho finished fourth with her 693 pinfalls, followed by Yho Villavicencio (651), Gigi Zapanta (627), Janet Regaspi (622), Cora Muna (602), Linda Yarobwemal (589), Lala Taitano (588), Gloria Omechelang (587), Elena Soll (585), Mhel Regis (580), Carol McKenzue (575), and Lilian Gutierrez (469).
