Call to action on monument

Laurie Peterka was one of those who helped get the monument from an idea to a reality. She has been asked what happens now by many of those who joined the movement, and she addressed the question head on. There are many calls to action in her recent letter—clear activities that each person may do to assist in the promises becoming realities. Despite your views prior to the declaration, all interested in the betterment of the CNMI need to put forth some effort to see some good come from the Monument. While I was against the Monument previously, it is of no consequence now—you cannot move forward looking out the rearview mirror, you have to look out the front windshield. I’ve spent the last 20 years on and around the ocean professionally and I’d like to contribute what I can in this effort. This is an open call to all those that were against the Monument previously to help make positive changes in the CNMI with regards to the Monument. Ms. Peterka has always had my highest respect, and we all need to address those questions and calls to action she wrote about. If there is anything I can do from afar, I’m confident Laurie will send me an e-mail and let me know. We can all help in some way, and it’s our duty to the island and our future to do so.
