PIC donates 5K to SSC
Pacific Islands Club handed a $5,000 donation to Saipan Swim Club during the 4th Annual Saipan Swim Club Meek & Mighty Ocean Swim on Feb. 14.
Surprised SSC officials and swimmers expressed their sincerest appreciation to PIC and its management for the company’s kindness.
“It was a great Valentine’s gift, a surprising one. So surprising that we don’t know how are we going to use it,” SSC treasurer Lisa Kimball said.
PIC general manager Kieran Daly hopes SSC will use the money to teach more kids to swim and encourage them to continue having a healthy lifestyle.
“Run the club with integrity and teach swimmers that nothing is more important than your health. I see people spend thousands of dollars on cars and houses, but the most important thing is your health, education, and of course your family. Spend a bit more time and effort in this area and you will reap the benefits in the long term,” Daly said.
“On behalf of the SSC board, the parents, and the swimmers, we would like to thank PIC for their donation. This will go a long way, especially at this time when most of us are experiencing financial problems,” Kimball said.
PIC has been a supporter of SSC, but in the past, the former only donated equipment to the club.
“PIC donates money to many sporting, educational, and health organizations. This was not the first time we have donated funds to SSC. Normally, we purchase equipment that the children can use when learning and developing their swimming ability,” Daly said.
Daly added giving donations to various organizations is PIC’s way of sharing the blessings the company is receiving.
“PIC has had a favorable year due to the support from the local community and the very dedicated staff at PIC, so we are very proud to be able to provide some funding for the resident sporting and educational groups on Saipan,” he said.
“SSC has been a long standing club and the CNMI and SSC is going through some very tough economic times. I would not want to see such a club fold after the history and the benefits it has brought to the residents of Saipan,” Daly added.
