Police arrested a suspected supplier of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “ice” during a buy-bust operation in As Lito on Thursday.

Qingxian Xu, 46, male, Chinese, was arrested for trafficking of a controlled substance and illegal possession of a controlled substance.

In yesterday’s hearing, Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman imposed a $30,000 cash bail for Xu’s temporary liberty.

Detective Norman Alvin S. Rasiang stated in his report that members of the Department of Public Safety’s Narcotics Units, with the assistance of members of the DPS Criminal Investigation Bureau, managed to purchase $840 worth of “ice” from Xu,

Rasiang said the officers used a “cooperating source” to negotiate the purchase of “ice” from the defendant.

Rasiang said the “cooperating source,” who was given pre-recorded funds in the amount of $200 by the officers, met Xu at a place in As Lito.

The detective said the $200 was arranged so that it would appear to be the full amount of $840, which was the worth of the “ice” to be bought.

Members of the team then arrested Xu after he handed the “ice” to the “cooperating source” inside a vehicle.

The officers recovered the $200 from the suspect’s wallet.

Officers also seized from the car two Ziploc bags containing “ice” wrapped in aluminum foil, which were inside a white napkin.

Rasaing said the substance was tested presumptive positive for “ice.”

Last Wednesday, police also arrested during a reported buy-bust operation a Chinese woman for “ice” trafficking.
