Police arrested during a buy-bust operation Wednesday a suspected supplier of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “ice.”

Yin Juan Sheng, 38, a Chinese female, was brought to the Superior Court yesterday on charges of trafficking of a controlled substance and illegal possession of a controlled substance.

Associate Judge David A. Wiseman ordered Sheng to hire her own lawyer after she disclosed that she has a $10,000 in her bank account.

Wiseman imposed a $30,000 cash bail for the defendant’s temporary release and set the preliminary hearing for Feb. 27 at 9am.

Detective Norman Alvin S. Rasiang stated in his report that police officers used a “cooperating source” to purchase a total of $400 worth of “ice” from Sheng on three occasions.

Rasiang said that last Jan. 27, the police’s “cooperating source” bought $100 worth of “ice” from Sheng in Chalan Piao.

On Feb. 11, police officers, using the same “cooperating source,” purchased another $100 worth of “ice” from the defendant in Chalan Kanoa District 4.

Last Wednesday, police officers tapped the same “cooperating source” and an undercover officer to conduct the buy-bust.

After the transaction at a motel in San Jose, police officers placed the suspect under arrest.

Rasiang said the substance purchased from the defendant in the three deals is presumptive positive for “ice.”
