An abandoned house in Kagman III Phase 1 was reportedly set on fire early Monday morning.

Department of Public Safety spokesperson Lei Ogumoro said yesterday that no one was injured and that police have yet to arrest the suspect or suspects. Investigation is ongoing.

Ogumoro said DPS received a report about the fire at 4:08am and firefighters immediately responded to the scene.

She said firefighters had the blaze under control by 4:27am on the same day.

Based on preliminary investigation, the wooden tin house was already burned and had collapsed when firefighters arrived at the scene.

Ogumoro said investigators discovered that an electrical drop line that should have connected the house’s electrical meter to the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.’s power pole was not there.

The owner of the house is unknown at this time, according to Ogumoro.

She said investigators learned that the house, measuring about 240 square feet, has been unoccupied for some time now.

“Based on their findings, investigators stated that the house was intentionally set on fire,” Ogumoro said.

Last Feb. 5, an unoccupied house in Afetnas was also reportedly intentionally set ablaze by an unidentified person or persons.

DPS said nobody was injured and no one has been arrested in that blaze.
