Broken promise?

Exactly three years ago on Jan 26, 2006, the Saipan Tribune came out with an article about the Fitial administration promising that utility rates will decrease and the fuel surcharge will be abolished within six months.

The article, titled ”Utility rates to go down in 6 months,” quoted press secretary Charles P. Reyes as saying that the new administration has set a goal to get tangible results at the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. within 180 days.

“We will bring the rates down and abolish the fuel surcharge fee-or if that can’t be done, reduce it significantly,” he said.

Well, happy anniversary to the Fitial administration for achieving further destruction of our power engines and bankrupting our public utilities.

There have been many organizational changes, millions wasted, backdoor hires, sole-source contracts, but still no solutions to our power woes, only destruction to our power engines.
