Police arrested a man for alleged possession of methamphetamine or “ice” and another for beating up his girlfriend.

Benefacio Magofna Camacho, 33, was detained for possession of controlled substance, while Milton Borja Camacho, 28, was picked up for assault and battery.

Both suspects are already on probation by the courts for previous cases.

During a hearing yesterday, Superior Court associate judge David Wiseman imposed a $5,000 cash bail each for the temporary release of the two Camachos.

Wiseman set the preliminary hearing for Jan. 28 and arraignment for Feb. 2 in both cases.

Detective Andrea C. Ozawa stated in her report that on Monday night police officers responded to call about a domestic violence incident at the AM&L Apartment in Chalan Kanoa.

Ozawa said that when officers arrived at the apartment, they saw a man and a woman running away from them. An officer stopped the two and asked if there was a problem. The two replied no.

The officer then noticed something protruding from the pocket of the man. The man, later identified as Benefacio Camacho, consented to a search. The officer allegedly found a zip-lock type plastic bag containing “ice.” The suspect was then arrested.

Ozawa said the woman told the officers that she had just witnessed Milton Camacho beating up his girlfriend.

The woman claimed that Milton Camacho and the girlfriend were arguing. She said Milton Camacho choked, slapped, and punched the victim. Milton Camacho allegedly dragged the girlfriend to their apartment room when he heard the siren of a police car.

Police officers checked the apartment room, where they arrested Milton Camacho.

The victim was found crying on the restroom floor. She had numerous bruises and scratches on the right eye, neck, right elbow, legs, left face, left wrist, and a large bruise on the left side of the wrist.

Officers later saw outside the apartment a bag that contained illegal drug paraphernalia and residue of “ice.”
