Teregeyo has new opponent in ROP VI
Syl “The Deal” Teregeyo will have a new opponent in Rites of Passage VI: Conviction after his opponent failed to make weight.
Trench Tech president Cuki Alvarez said Frank “Shotgun” Manglona has pulled out of his match against Teregeyo due to weight-related issues.
Taking the place of Manglona will be Josea Ware from Spike 22 Ground-Fu Fight Academy Guam. Alvarez said Ware has a mixed martial arts record of five wins and one loss.
“He is a young exciting fighter at only 18 years old and has fought in Preba Hao and Pacific Xtreme Combat losing only once to a Japanese pro fighter from Hayato “Mach” Sakurai’s team in PXC 15: Guam vs. Japan. Josea is the top 180-lb. fighter from the island of Guam and will be putting his MMA talent to the ultimate test as he battles the top 185-pounder from Saipan in Syl Teregeyo.”
Alvarez believes the Teregeyo-Ware match would be a very high energy and fast-paced fight as both fighters are young and explosive and are both very fierce competitors.
“It should make for a very exciting fight for the semi main event of the evening,” he said.
Aside from the Teregeyo-Ware tussle, 14 other bouts will be featured in the Rites of Passage VI: Conviction, which will be held at Saipan World Resort’s Royal Taga Hall on Jan. 24.
The main event will have Marianas Elite’s Maitai ‘The Charger” Charley colliding with Ryan “The Dentist” Urquizu of Guam’s Fight to Win!.
Urquizu and Charley agreed to fight in the 150-lb. division for the light heavyweight bout with the former enjoying a better record of 12 wins and four losses. Charley holds a 3-4 slate.
