The Northern Marianas College will soon start erecting a new building called Building M that would house several important offices.

The ribbon cutting for this new building is scheduled Feb. 6 starting at 10am.

The project is located on the western side of the college’s As Terlaje campus.

Building M is reserved for the offices of Languages and Humanities Department, English Language Institute and the English Learning Laboratory.

This project is funded by the Northern Marinas College Foundation.

Meanwhile, the last day of registration for the upcoming 2009 NMC Spring Semester will end today, Jan. 17.

Over 500 students showed up at the start of the registration last Monday, Jan. 12.

The start of classes is scheduled on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

School officials are expected to release by Tuesday the total number of enrollees for the next semester.

The college organized an admission workshop on Jan. 10, with some 45 students in attendance.

NMC also held the Financial Aid Workshop, which was attended by about 300 participants.

NMC has been on probation since February 2007 and was put on show-cause in February this year because, according to Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, the school did not address previous concerns.

The accreditation commission is expected to issue its decision at the end of this month whether to retain the college’s accreditation or not.
