Tom Glenn Quitugua, Rota representative to the Commonwealth Development Authority board, has been elected as the new chair of the agency’s private-sector lending arm.
Quitugua received the majority of votes to head CDA’s Development Corporation Division during yesterday’s board meeting.
DCD is tasked mainly “to initiate, stimulate, and facilitate development of the economy of the Commonwealth for the economic and social advancement of the people of the Commonwealth by making loans and giving financial, technical, and advisory assistance in its discretion to the private sector in the Northern Marianas.”
Quitugua, who will serve a one-year term, replaced Marcie Tomokane, Bank of Guam vice president and CNMI regional manager, who was voted to serve as Quitugua’s vice chair.
Quitugua and Edwin P. Aldan, Tinian representative to the CDA board, were sworn in last October after their appointments were approved by the Senate.
Board members emphasized at the meeting the importance of DCD, and both Quitugua and Tomokane vowed to work collectively with other board members to ensure that the division achieves its goals and objectives.
