Leftfielder Shane Yamada homered twice, while three of his teammates made one round-tripper apiece, as Freedom Air hammered Procurement and Supply, 25-15, in the men’s division of the 2008 Inter Government/Business Softball League Thursday at the Capital Hill Ballfield.

Yamada went 4-for-5 at the plate, scored three runs, and had four RBIs. He hit a three-run homer at the top of the first inning, which saw Freedom Air making 12 runs.

Yamada stepped up to the plate twice in the first inning connecting on a double in his second hit. He recorded his second round-tripper in the fourth inning nailing a solo homer.

Second baseman Ken Villagomez, third baseman Roy Celis, and first baseman Roque Camacho had one homer each and combined for 11 RBIs.

Five Freedom Air sluggers went 3-for-5 at-bat, and overall the team was 28-for-53 at the plate for a batting average of .528.

P&S scored six runs in the first inning to keep pace with Freedom Air, but the former failed to make a major comeback in the next six innings to absorb its fourth loss in six games.

Freedom Air improved to a 7-1 record to share the No. 2 spot with Commonwealth Ports Authority.

Jets 14, DLNR 8
In the first game of the night, the Joeten Motor Jets held the Department of Land and Natural Resources to two runs in the last three innings to nail a 14-8 win.

The Jets were ahead by only one, 7-6, after four complete innings, when a four-run top of the fifth highlighted by J.J. Laniyo’s two-run single allowed them to widen the gap, 11-6.

DLNR answered only with a solo homer from Tony Mareham at the bottom of the fifth and although it shut out the Jets at the top of the sixth, the former scored one run, anew at the bottom allowing the latter to keep the lead, 11-8.

The Jets added three more runs at the top of the seventh and secured the win when DLNR’s first two batters were beaten to first and the third flied out to centerfield.

The victory put the Jets in solo third place with their 7-2 record, while DLNR dropped to a 5-4 slate.

Legislature 15, Mayor’s Office 11

Toi Celis went 4-for-4 at-bat to lead Legislature to a 15-11 victory over the Mayor’s Office.

The win was the Lawmakers sixth in nine games, while the loss was the Mayor’s Office eighth in nine matches.

Celis scored two runs, made one double, and three RBIs.

Legislature gained early control of the match scoring three runs in the first and five in the second. The Lawmakers added one more in the third before being shut out in the fourth.

Mayor’s Office managed to make only three runs in the first four innings to fall behind by six, 3-9, and although it recorded six runs in the fifth inning, these were not enough to bring the team back to the game. Legislature foiled Mayor’s Office bid for a comeback win after scoring six runs in the fifth and sixth inning. Mayor’s Office had only two runs in the last two innings.
