Jordan Kosam was elected president of the Refalawasch Golf Association at the association’s annual election of officers meeting last Dec. 7.

The annual meeting was held in conjunction with the RGA Club Championship banquet at the Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Kili Café. Kosam will serve until the 2009 annual meeting, December 2009.

“It is a tremendous honor to be elected by my peers as the new president. RGA has been an active golf club association in the CNMI fostering camaraderie among its members and other golf associations and at the same time supporting communities and schools. I’m looking forward to the responsibilities ahead of me in serving this great association. I plan to serve the club to the best of my abilities,” he said.

Kosam extended his sincere appreciation to 2008 RGA president Adam Hardwicke for his generous support and contribution during his tenure. He also thanked Jess Wabol, Sonny Flores, Tony Rogolofoi, and the rest of RGA’s members “who took the extra mile for the association to meet its annual objective. Spouses and family members for actively engaging and supporting during its monthly tournaments. It wouldn’t have been made possible without all your support.”

The current year also saw RGA hold the 2008 Memorial Classic, where $3,500 was raised and donated to Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School.

Aside from Kosam, also elected were vice president Manny Mangarero, secretary Tars Olopai, treasurer Sonny Flores, handicap chairman Tony Rogolofoi, tournament director Jess Wabol, membership chairman Juan Rebuenog, and public information officer Dewayne Stephen.

“I would like to congratulate the new board elected by the association,” said Kosam. “RGA’s 2009 goal is to continue promote and foster among the members a closer bond and fraternity for their joint and mutual benefit and to promote and conserve the best interest and true spirit of the game.”

He added that RGA still recognizes the current economic situation, thus its annual membership fee will remain at $25.

“We would like to encourage all former, present, and new members to once again take advantage of this reduce membership fee.”

RGA kicks off its 2009 calendar with its January Ace qualifier set on Jan. 17 at the Coral Ocean Point Golf Resort. Show time is at 11am and tee time is an hour later at 12pm. The club will also have a board meeting on Jan. 8 beginning 7pm at Kosam’s residence.
