Rollers B went 2-0 on Day 1 of the annual caging to top Pool C of the boys’ 18-and-under division. The Sixers I had a 2-0 record in the boys’ 14-and-under age group to pace Pool A.

The Joe Diaz- and Paul Camacho-mentored Rollers B debuted with a close 55-52 victory over Saipan Southern High School and made it back-to-back wins following a 71-44 demolition of the Runnin’ Rebels.

Joining Rollers B in Pool C are the San Antonio Sixers (1-0), Runnin’ Rebels (0-1), and the Manta Rays (0-2).

The Sixers won their lone game of the day against the Manta Rays, 88-55, handing Southern two losses.

In Pool A, Rollers A and the Kagman Ayuyus won their debuts with the latter escaping with a 45-43 win over the Junior Sonics. Rollers A prevailed over the Ol’Aces, 57-49.

The defending champion G-Stars and the Sonics are in Pool B and also triumphed in the opening day.

The G-Stars outshone the ACS Torchbearers, 86-38, while the Sonics walloped Rollers C, 86-34.

Rollers C played its second game in Pool B and made it to the win column following a victory via forfeit over the Torchbearers.

In the boys’ 14-and-under division, the Sixers I topped and G-Stars, 110-25, and Rollers A, 45-43, to take the lead in Pool A.

In Pool B, the Sixers 2 defeated Hopwood Junior High School, 42-32, to share the lead with the Lil’ Sonics, who won via forfeit against Rollers B.

LMA was also credited the win after another no-show from Rollers B.

In the girls division, organizers put the 14-and-under and 18-and-under teams in one group with Marianas High School II and the Mt. Carmel Lady Knights winning their debuts.

MHS II showed no love lost toward sister team MHS I, 66-39, while the Lady Knights slipped past the Kagman Lady Ayuyus, 40-37.

Hopwood and ChaCha are the two other teams entered in the girls division and played their first game yesterday.

Sixteen games were scheduled on Day 2 of the tournament.

Each division will play in a single-round robin with the top two teams advancing to the playoffs.

The championship games in each division are set for Saturday. There will be no consolation matches due to time constraints.

This year’s Holiday Hoops drew a record 28 teams.
