A year after
The organizers of the “Unity March” that was held last Dec. 7, 2007, is inviting all those who participated in the most memorable march that has ever occurred in the history of the Northern Mariana Islands to its first anniversary on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at 4pm at the Minatchom Atdao Pavilion, Kilili Beach, Beach Road, Susupe.
Let us stand up and join our hands together once again in our quest for equal rights and equal protection as a people and a law-abiding citizens within the community.
The Unity Group that organized the Unity March (you know who they are) is encouraging all participants—foreign workers, island residents, and U.S citizens who walked together to express a common goal, vision and sentiment—including all who belong to the “silent majority” to attend the first anniversary (food and drinks are potluck) and remember the event that in one way or another brought us together in the spirit of love and unity. Indeed our unambiguous vision for the retention of H.B 3079 (grandfathering provision for long-term foreign workers and opposing the implementation of some provisions under P.L 15-108) during that year is now bittersweet as foreign nationals silently leave the island one at a time. Your attendance is highly expected as we celebrate the success of more than a thousand marchers that started at 5pm and ended almost 10pm at the American Memorial Park Amphitheater.
See you there.
