MAITE, Guam–In recognition of their high scholastic achievement, seven students have been selected to be the 2011 First Hawaiian Bank Guam Business Magazine Businesswoman of the Year scholarship recipients.

The program provides student scholarships at three higher education institutions in the Mariana Islands: University of Guam, Guam Community College, and Northern Marianas College. The selection committee has chosen three students from UOG, one student from GCC and three students from NMC.

The names of the seven scholarship recipients will be announced at two separate scholarship award presentations. The Guam scholarship awards presentation will be held today, Oct. 4, while the Saipan scholarship awards presentation will be held tomorrow, Oct. 5.

Funds for the scholarships were raised through the 2011 Businesswoman of the Year Gala, held at the Hyatt Regency Guam on April 30. The event was attended by hundreds of supporters of the program. The event raises funds for these scholarships and recognizes women who make a difference in business. The 2011 Businesswoman of the Year Maga’haga award recipient is Joyce Q. Crisostomo, executive director of Cars Plus.
