Dimaano, Omechalang finish in upper half
Ador Dimaano and Percy Omechalang finished in the upper half of the Doubles competition in the 22nd Asian Inter City Tenpin Bowling Championships late Tuesday night at the Macau Bowling Center.
Dimaano and Omechalang came in 18th place, 397 pins short of eventual gold medal winners Kim Young Pyo and Lee Tae Ju of Deagu, with their combined 2,320 pinfalls.
Omechalang led the way with his 1,194 built around a six-game roll-off of 192, 187, 181, 197, 221, and 216 that allowed him to average a shade under 200 at 199.
Dimaano, for his part, chipped in with his 1,126 pinfalls—good for a 187.67 average—after recording rolls of 159, 194, 212, 193, 177, and 191.
Team Saipan’s other pair—Ross Zapanta and Jorge Soledad—wound up in 38th place after combining for 2,131 pinfalls.
Kim and Lee helped Daegu nail its first gold medal of the 22nd Asian Interncity Tenpin Bowling Championship after amassing a total of 2,717 pinfalls in the Men’s Doubles event.
Men’s Doubles Squad B topnotchers Brian Manibusan and John Ada of Tamuning nipped Hong Kong’s Michael Tsang and Ken Lin, who were second to Daegu in the Men’s Doubles Squad A, to win the silver.
The Guam keglers had knocked down a total of 2,660 to better the score set by Tsang and Lin in the earlier squad. The Hong Kong duo settled for the bronze medal with a total of 2,627.
The 22nd Asian Intercity Bowling Championship’s Team of Four was played yesterday but results were still unavailable as off press time. The competition continues with the two-day Masters finals today.
A record number of participants from 22 cities are taking part in the 22nd Asian Intercity Bowling Championship which kicked off last Monday at the 24-lane Macau Bowling Center in Taipa-Coloane.
Participating cities are Taipei City from Chinese Taipei, Tamuning from Guam, Hong Kong, Happy Valley, Kowloon, Victoria from Hong Kong, Bangalore, Chennai and Delhi from India, Daegu, Pohang and Uiwang from Korea, Kuantan and Shah Alam from Malaysia, Macau, Macau Coloane, Macau Taipa, Saipan, Paranaque City and Pasay City from the Philippines and Singapore.
