Last week, the Department of Public Safety’s 19th Police Cycle Academy underwent 40 hours of the Basic Fundamentals of Marksmanship Instruction. This class was conducted by the Department’s Rangemaster, Ambrosio Ogumoro, and his two assistant Firearms Instructors, Police Officer Jason Tarkong and Officer David Hosono.

The 40 hour training included three days in the classroom covering the basic understanding of safe weapons handling skills. This included two days practical application on the firing line and methods of night firing techniques. This practical training was conducted at the DPS shooting range located in San Juan, Marpi.

At the end of training, the top 10 shooters competed for the “Top Gun” award. This coveted prize is given to the best overall score on range qualification. The Top Gun award went to Police Cadet Kelani B. Pangelinan. He will be receiving his award at their graduation ceremony scheduled in late December. (DPS)
