DCCA players lead women’s batting race

After weeks of competitions in the Budweiser 2008 Inter-Government/Business Softball League, Department of Community and Cultural Affairs are leading the women’s division batting race.

Bert Camacho and Doris Rangamar are in the Top 2 spots in the batting competition with averages of .819 and .778, respectively. DCCA has a 2-1 record.

Camacho went 9-for-11 in three games with DCCA, while Rangamar hit 7-for-9.

Completing the Top 5 were Finance’s Bego Camacho (6-for-8), DCCA’s Erica Tenorio (5-for-9), and NMC’s Angie Ngirbedul (3-for-5).

Rounding of the Top 10 were Connie Camacho, Kuki Pangelinan, Abby Atalig, Juanette Atalig, Lenice Kapileo, Antonette Laniyo, Charlene Cabrera, Lilian Aguon, Pauline Tudela and Julie Guerrero.

Bert Camacho has the most runs scored so far with nine, while three players made one doubles apiece, while five scored one triple each.

Pauline Tudela of Finance was the lone player to record a homer after two weeks of competition, while Laniyo had six RBIs, the most by any player so far.

In the pitching race, Bego Camacho is on top with her 2.69 ERA. Camacho pitched in two games and 13 innings, allowed 26 hits, and gave up 18 runs.

NMC’s Felisa Brel is in second place with 3.00 ERA, followed by DCCA’s Eula Matsumoto (4.79), CHC’s Meng Yamada (10.50), and CUC’s Dolorina Panuelo (12.83).

Matsumoto is leading the league in strikeouts with 10.

In the men’s division, which have 20 teams competing for the title, CPA’s Manuel Degracia is leading the league in the batting race.

After two games with CPA, Degracia is still perfect, going 5-for-5. P & S’s Bernard Kileleman and CUC’s Vinnie Sablan both went 5-for-6 for identical batting average of .833.

Completing the Top 10 were the Joeten Motors’ Ben Taisacan (.800), DCCA’s Jun Saralu (.800), SaipanCell/DFS’s Kuich Damian (.800), Freedom Air’s Roy Celis (.800), Law & Order’s Derek Sasamoto (.750), Beach Boys’ s B.J. Sablan (.714), Legislature’s Dennis Ngeskebei (.714), Beach Boys’ J.R. Suel (714), CPA’s Jack Diaz (.714), PSS’s John Terlaje (.714), SaipanCell/DFS’s Payton Sakuma (.714), and Law & Order’s Sylvio Ada (.714).

Mark Toves has the most runs scored so far with five, Tony Celis has the most doubles with three, Ben Taisacan and Harlan Reyes has the most triples with two, and Byron Kaipat has the most homers with three. Kaipat also has the most RBIs with eight.

In the pitching race, Freedom Air’s Albert Lizama is trailing nine other pitchers with his 0.00 ERA. Lizama pitched only in one game and in seven innings, allowing only four hits and giving up no runs. He had an error-free pitching game for Freedom Air.

Pitching leaders were based on seven or more innings pitched.

Fernando Camacho and J.J. Salas have the most strikeouts so far with five each.
