PILCOWA caging holds All-Star Game tonight
The Inaugural 2008 PILCOWA-San Miguel Beer Basketball League will be holding an All-Star Game tonight at the CIC Centre Basketball Court in Garapan before starting the playoffs.
The All-Star Game will feature selected players who were divided into two teams—the Dark and Light All-Stars.
Each team is composed of 13 players.
The Dark Team will have MIGS’s Banjo Basila, Sonny Lerio, Kae Bernardo, and Bonbon Cadagat on its roster.
C&R Distributor/NRG will have the most players on the Dark All-Stars with Jun Estolas, Jericho Cruz, Badong Camacho, James Villacrusis, Melvin Villarin, and Mel Capalad joining the team.
Completing the Dark All-Stars are Aon Insurance’s Leo Factor, Jolan Mendoza, and James Abuy. C&R coach Marvin Deocares will call the shots for the Dark All-Stars.
The Light All-Stars will be bannered by three stalwarts of pennant champion Century Insurance, namely Wowie Abuel, Jawn Joyner, and Larry Palero.
The trio will team up with Diamond Auto Care’s Ronald Delos Reyes, Junar Guiab, and Elmer Esdrelon.
Four players are representing Olivos/Reliance Construction on the Light All-Stars. The list include Glen Mercurio, Edmark Mendoza, Ivan De Vero, and Bernard Montano.
San Miguel Light with have its top two gunners—Ryan Sanciangco and Leo Itaas—playing for the Light All-Stars. Alex Lauron is the third Beermen to make it to the selection.
The Light All-Stars will be coached by Century’s John Penalosa and Diamond’s Boy Garcia.
Game time is at 7:30pm after a three-point shootout at 6:30pm. The seven teams will have one player each competing in the shootout.
Playoffs will start next week with Century Insurance getting a bye in the first round after taking the pennant.
Century and MIGS had identical 5-1 records in the regular season, but the former won the tiebreak due to the win-over-the-other rule.
MIGS along with C&R/NRG, Aon, Diamond, Olivos, and San Miguel will fight for the last three semifinals ticket.
The playoff round will have a single-elimination format.
