Hofschneider, Reiman, Babauta are Kagman High’s nominees
Kagman High School’s “Teacher of the Year” is awarded to Lizabeth Hofschneider. “I was surprised when I found out. I never thought I would be teacher of the year,” she says.
She would like to tell her students to “continue to think about their dreams after high school. Whatever you do after high school, I would want you to succeed in whatever career you land on.”
When asked if she enjoys what she does, she replied, “My goodness. I wouldn’t still be here if I didn’t enjoy it. I’m always excited to teach something new to my students everyday.”
Hofschneider has been teaching for about 29 years. She attained her master’s degree in secondary mathematics from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2003. She taught for two years in the Philippines, five years at Mount Carmel, three years at Marianas High School, 16 years at Tinian High School, and is going on her third year at Kagman High. Among many varieties of math, her main focuses are Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Trigonometry.
Teacher Aide of the Year is Lieta Reiman. She has been a teacher aide for about three years. She says she was “shocked” when she found out. “I never thought I would be chosen.” She loves children and really enjoys what she does. This is one of the reasons why she wanted to become an educator.
Bernadita Babauta has been chosen as Support Staff of the Year. She is the Kagman High Registrar. She’s been with the Ayuyus for four years. “I didn’t expect to be SSOY because I had already been chosen before. I was very surprised and excited. It was a proud moment,” she said. Babauta enjoys “interacting with students and working with colleagues.”
