Barcinas, Taimanao, Narvaez are GTC’s stars
Tawny Barcinas is the Teacher of the Year nominee for the Gregorio T. Camacho (GTC) Elementary School.
She is on her fourth year teaching at GTC Elementary as a fifth grade teacher. Barcinas is a conscientious and committed teacher who always prioritizes the needs of the students first. She said, “It’s an honor to be given this kind of recognition and support from my students and colleagues. It boosts my confidence as a teacher and motivates me to continue to do better.” The GTC Family is honored to have Barcinas as its Teacher of the Year.
From the Principal: Not only is teaching an art, but it is a calling and Ms. Tawny Barcinas has answered that call. Ms. Barcinas sets high expectations for her students and provides them with well rounded instruction focusing on academics, character development, and physical wellness. She challenges her students and goes beyond expectations to ensure that she meets all her students’ needs. More importantly, she continues to reflect on her teaching and ways in which she can grow professionally. She’s a team player with an optimistic attitude.

Rose Sharon S. Taimanao is the Teacher-Aide of the Year nominee for the Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School. She has been with GTC for the past five years as its Chamorro-Carolinian Language Heritage Studies teacher aide. All the little binadus love her and is known by everyone as “Sinorita Taimanao.” The students say that she is the best CCLHS teacher on the island! Sinorita Taimanao says, “I was truly touched and surprised to find out that I was chosen to represent GTC as the teacher-aide of the year for the school year 2008-2009.” Despite the challenges of teaching a total of 7 classes daily on her own this year, she says that every day is rewarding. The GTC Family is proud to have Ms. Taimanao as our Teacher-Aide of the Year.
From the Principal: A dynamic teacher aide, Ms. Rose Taimanao gives it her 110 percent when it comes to her students. She is actively involved with CCLHS Academic Challenge Bowl and Forensic’s competitions for 1st to 6th grade students, coaching interscholastic sports, and teaching our students cultural songs and dances. Un dangkulo na si yuus ma’ase and congratulations Ms. Rose Taimanao for your dedication and commitment and for the outstanding job you do for our students!
Ariel Narvaez is the Support Staff of the Year nominee for the Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School. He has been with GTC for four years. He says that he enjoys the school atmosphere at GTC. He rarely encounters any serious problems. The teachers are fun to work with and the students are great, he says. He said it is a great honor to be recognized for all his hard work. The GTC Family is happy to have Mr. Ariel as a valuable asset to our school.
From the Principal: GTC Elementary School is fortunate to have Mr. Ariel Narvaez as our one and only maintenance worker. He is an important contributor to our school success by ensuring that we have a clean and safe learning environment. He effectively manages his time to make sure that the school lawn, trees, and plants are manicured; the water pump and tanks, air conditioning units, bathrooms, and lightings are working adequately. He also assists in helping with school functions by building props for school competitions and builds cubbies and shelves for the classrooms. Although Mr. Ariel has a lot of responsibilities, he does his job exceptionally. Congratulations and thank you Mr. Ariel for your commitment and hard work to the students, parents, teachers, and staff of GTC Elementary School.
