OSHA expert to discuss how to make the workplace safer

The next meeting of the Society for Human Resource Management will feature a ranking official the CNMI Occupational Safety and Health Administration Office, who will discuss how businesses in the CNMI can improve on OSHA compliance standards.

OSHA project manager Deleon Guerrero will also be providing crucial information on the current OSHA programs that are available free of cost to all business owners.

By attending this session, local businesses will learn how to prevent occupational disasters. Business owners and management staff can also learn about the resources available that will help them provide a safe and healthy working environment and help cut accidents and expenses.

OSHA aims to ensure employee safety and health by working with employers and employees to create better working environments. OSHA’s role is to ensure protective standards are followed and enforced as well as reaching out to employers and employees through various technical assistance and consultation programs.

The Chapter’s next meeting will be held at Charley’s Cabaret, Pacific Islands Club on Nov. 13, Thursday. Doors open at 11:15am for registration. Cost for members is $15 and $20 for non-SHRM members (government purchase orders accepted). Cost includes lunch. Reservations are requested.
