C&R Distributors/NRG hopes to recover from a heartbreaking loss in its previous game when it faces unpredictable Aon Insurance at the resumption of action in the Inaugural 2008 PILCOWA-San Miguel Beer Basketball League tonight at the CIC Centre Basketball Court in Garapan.

C&R/NRG lost what could have been a won game over the league-leading MIGS in overtime, 122-125.

The Marvin Deocares-coached C&R/NRG was leading by three points in the closing seconds of the match when MIGS point guard Bonbon Cadagat nailed a triple to send the match in overtime.

In the extension period, C&R/NRG had several chances to claim the win, but Jun Estolas missed a couple of free throws allowing MIGS to escape with a victory.

The loss was C&R/NRG’s second in a row and it hopes to end its losing skid against the struggling Aon Insurance.

Aon won its debut against Century Insurance, but dropped its next two games. It regained its form against San Miguel Light pulling off a 94-91 triumph.

Aon Insurance shares the No. 3 spot in the team standings with Diamond Auto Care, while C&R/NRG is half a game behind them with a 1-2 record.

MIGS is pacing the league with a 4-1 record, having absorbed its lone loss in the San Miguel caging at the hands of Century Insurance, 94-98, Sunday night.

MIGS hopes to regain its winning ways on Saturday when it duels Olivos/Realiance Construction, which broke into the win column via a 93-85 upset over Diamond Auto Care last week.

The Olivos-MIGS tiff will be played at 8pm.

In the first game on Saturday at 6:30pm, Century Insurance will go for win No. 4 against Diamond Auto Care.

Sunday’s matches will have San Miguel colliding with C&R in the fist game at 5pm, and Aon Insurance battling Diamond Auto Care in the second match at 6:30pm.
