Aon Insurance had all its tricks working against Hardt Eye Clinic en route to treating itself to an easy 6-1 victory in the 2008 NMIFA Women’s Futsal Fall League the morning afternoon Halloween at the Northern Marianas College Gymnasium.

Aon Insurance scored the most goals so far in the league and is the lone undefeated squad in the six-team field.

It was Aon’s third win in four games putting the team in solo lead after gaining seven points. AON drew its match over Matt Smith Law Office, two weeks ago.

Six different players scored for the Laura Williams-captained Aon Insurance. The list includes Becca Newman, Lisa Laniyo, Anna Manibusan, Tomoka Kawakata, Francine Sablan, and Williams.

“We had an exceptional game. Our passing game was really sharp,” Williams said.

Hardt Eye Clinic captain Natalie Hill scored the lone goal for her team.

Also winning Saturday’s matches were Marianas Medical Center and Wild Bill’s.

MMC slipped past Marine Tech International, 3-2, to improve to a 3-0-1 (win-loss-draw) mark and move up to second place.

Marya Oestreich and Patty Coleman scored for Marianas Medical Center, while Amanda Armstrong and Chantelle Voutilainen had one goal apiece for MTI

Despite getting goals from newcomers Armstrong and Voutilainen, MTI dropped to fifth place in the team standings with its 1-3 slate.

In the opening game Saturday, Wild Bill’s handed Matt Smith Law Office its first loss with the former cruising through a 3-0 victory.

Wild Bill’s, which is captained by Jaime Beavis, gained its second win in four games to keep the No. 4 spot in the team standings.

The Janel Villegas-captained Matt Smith dropped from first to third as it now has a 2-1-1 record.

Meanwhile, league organizers announced that they are still accepting players interested to join the league.

Games in the futsal league are played every Saturday, from 8:30am to 11:30am. The league will have a round-robin format in the regular season, while the format in the playoffs has yet to be decided.

This is the first time that Northern Mariana Islands Football Association is holding a futsal league.

Futsal is an indoor football game with teams having five players each on the court. It demands quick reflexes, fast thinking, and accurate ball control. Games are played in a basketball-style court, with no walls and a low-bouncing ball, requiring players to use their skill rather than the ball’s bounce to propel it.
