Who can stop Acme Roofing from its winning rampage?

The team picked up three more wins three days in a row to stretch its winning run to 8-0 and solidify its lead in the 2008 Miller Lite Four-Person Beach Volleyball League at the Pacific Island Club sand court.

Powered by Larry Sheri, J.R. Ngesekei, Luthor Taylor, Jazz Roskow, Rob Jordan, Dana McFadden, Elzabeth Hence, and Jenni Brown, Acme Roofing won over Kimoichi, 21-12, 21-10, 18-21, on Thursday night to maintain its unblemished record. It also won over Off Twice on Tuesday and against Karakuchi on Wednesday.

With the loss Kimochi went down to eighth overall with its 4-4 win-loss mark.

There are just two more teams standing on Acme Roofing’s way to an undefeated regular season.

It will meet MHS Serves Up on Nov. 4, an easy game barring any major disaster, as the former remains winless after six matches.

Then, Acme Roofing will play MHS Peers at the end of the single round-robin elimination games on Nov. 6.

The Peers are unpredictable and could score a big upset against Acme Roofing.

They just came off with a straight sets victory over Thai One On, 21-18, 21-19, 21-15, last Tuesday night.

That win gave the Peers their fifth win. They moved to solo third place with a 5-2 slate.

Another team capable of turning the tide is second-running Enyophace, the leader in sets won of 19, which is one more than Acme Roofing’s 18. The Peers have 14.

Despite the absence of its crisp spiking and strong serving frontliner in lawyer Bruce Berline, Enyophace posted its fifth straight against Champ On with an easy 21-11, 21-14, 21-6 scoring binge.

Melody Matson steadied the team with her booming serves and helped her team run its win streak to five. Enyophace is now 6-1 behind the pacesetting Acme Roofing, while Camp On absorbed its sixth defeat in seven outings to stay in ninth spot.

Off Twice kept its position in sixth place, 4-4, after going through the eye of the needle.

The team of tournament coordinator Lindsey Sosovec rallied from a first set loss to score a victory in the most grueling battle so far this year with the final score of 20-22, 21-19, 21-19.

Thai One On skidded from third to fifth place with a 4-3 record after that bitter defeat.
