SaipanCell Communications has “rebranded” itself as Docomo Pacific Inc., the company said in a statement issued Wednesday, when it also unveiled a new logo.

The company said its new moniker stems from that of its parent company, NTT Docomo and is “symbolic of the corporate evolution of both GuamCell and SaipanCell Communications.

Opened in 1991 GuamCell, a company that once had only five employees, has since grown to employ nearly 200 people, according to the statement. It opened SaipanCell in 1992, which now employs 26 people. The companies now have five retail outlets on Guam and Saipan.

NTT Docomo acquired the companies in December 2006. It provides mobile communications service to more than 53 million customers worldwide. (PR)
