Acme gets back at Off Twice, keeps record clean
Acme Roofing recovered from a slow start to beat Off Twice in one of four games last Tuesday night in the Miller Lite Four-Person Beach Volleyball League at the Pacific Islands Club sand court.
After dropping the first set, 17-21, the pacesetting Acme Roofing struggled in the last two sets before coming home with the victory, 21-18 and 21-18.
But more importantly, Acme Roofing kept an unblemished record after six games in the 11-team field tournament, while Off Twice skidded to sixth place with its 4-3 slate.
Meanwhile, Acme Roofing played against Karakuchi as of presstime last night. That game was originally scheduled on Thursday last week, Oct. 16.
Karakuchi is in seventh place with 3-4.
Acme roofing is also scheduled to play against Kimoichi in the main game at 8:30pm tonight.
Other games tonight will be MHS Peers vs. Thai One on at 5:30pm; Off Twice vs. Karakuchi at 6:30pm; and Enyophace vs. Champ On at 7:30pm.
Enyophace did not have a game on Tuesday but remained in second place with a 5-1 record. It suffered its lone defeat to Acme Roofing.
Enyophace is currently leading the rest of the field in sets won with 16. This is two more than Acme Roofing’s 14. Thai One On, MHS Peers and Kimichi had 11 each, while Off Twice and MHS Oakies are tied with 10 each.
Thai One On and MHS Peers defeated their respective rivals to stay in the middle of the team standings with identical 4-2 markings.
Thai One On prevailed in the first two sets, 21-5, 21-5 to ensure a victory over MHS Serves Up before dropping the third set, 15-21.
It was Serves Up’s sixth defeat in as many games.
MHS Peers also fashioned out a similar win against Champ-On, 22-20, 21-8, 19-22.
The loss quickly snapped Champ On’s victory ride following its first win in seven assignments in its previous game against Serves Up.
In the other match-up, MHS Oakies repulsed from the gallant fight put up by Kimoichi and scored the night’s biggest upset win, 21-13, 14-21 and 21-14.
With the loss, Kimoichi went down in the team standings from third place to fifth with its current record of 4-3, while MHS Oakies stayed in eighth position with 3-4.
