New officers for the Man’amko Advisory Council were named Tuesday at the Office on Aging.

The new officers are Francisco Reyes, chairman; Carmen Taitano, vice chairman; Terry Sorroza, secretary; Ana Nakatsukasa, treasurer; and members Antonia Aguon, Meryalan Conrad, Christiana Michae, and Mila Garin.

Conrad said she plans to focus on fundraising for the man’amko.

“I want to help, to really help man’amko,” she said. “Some are very quick to help. I might not really understand some things, but I just want to help.”

Also, two man’amko celebrated the completion of a basic computer class.

Rosario Ibanez and Elena Villanueva completed the course that taught them basic skills.

Garin, a 2007 graduate of the computer class, said the skills she learned in the class help her to record her past.

“It gives us a chance to record our lives and remember when we were young,” she said. “It’s time for us now to find ways and means to record our memories. The computer class is a way to refresh our memory.”

Also, she added, using the computer has kept her busy.

“Now I don’t have time to be lonely because there’s the computer,” she said. “Now I’m eager to come.”
