Women’s futsal boot camp Saturday
The two-part boot camp for women’s futsal will start this Saturday at the Whispering Palms School field on Navy Hill.
This Saturday’s boot camp will run from 10am to 12nn, instead of the initial schedule of 8:30am to 11:30am.
Players age 14 years old and above are welcome to attend the boot camp, which aims to prepare players for the women’s futsal league next month.
“Female players regardless of their skill level are encouraged to participate in the upcoming boot camp to learn futsal rules and skills, which are somewhat different from those of the traditional 11 aside football that was played during the last women’s league,” said NMIFA women’s committee member Laura Williams.
Futsal is an indoor football game with teams having five players each on the court. It demands quick reflexes, fast thinking, and accurate ball control. Games are played in a basketball-style court, with no walls and a low-bouncing ball, requiring players to use their skill rather than the ball’s bounce to propel it.
The second and last boot camp will be held on Oct. 4, also from 10am to 12nn.
Participants are required to pay $20 to join the boot camp. The entrance fee will also cover other fees for future tournaments of the season.
This year’s futsal league will run from Oct. 11 to Dec. 6. (Roselyn B. Monroyo)
