The Paire Football Club’s training sessions and meeting scheduled last week will take place today at the San Vicente Elementary School Field.

Paire’s practice and coaches meeting last Saturday were cancelled as mentors attended a one-day workshop conducted by John Whittle, acting director of Asian Football Confederation’s Grassroots and Youth Program.

Becca Newman, one of the coaches of the club, said they will hold the training sessions this weekend to prepare players and coaches for the 2008 NMIFA Fall Youth Football League

The training session will run from 3:30pm to 5pm and coaches are encouraging players to bring shin guards and shoes for the practice. Donations of shin guards and shoes are also welcome.

The club also encouraged parents to join their children during the practice sessions or join Paire’s coach/assistant coach pool.

A coaches meeting is set for 3pm before the training sessions start.

Paire will be fielding one team each in the five age groups. Players interested to be part of the club can join Paire’s Under 6, Under 8, Under 10, Under 12, and Under 15 teams.

The club is looking for players from Teo, Papago, Kagman, Kannat Tabla, San Vicente, and Upper Dandan.

Registration fee is $25 for new players and $10 for returnees.

For more information, contact Paire secretary Frances Sablan via email at francinergs@yahoo.com.

Paire strikers will go up against players from MP United, Matansa, Independents.

This year’s fall youth league will open shop on Sept. 27. The league will conclude its fall season with the 2008 Youth Football Festival in November.

The festival aims to provide players with the opportunity to play and enjoy games in a friendly competition environment, provide a platform for grassroots coach and referee education, and to encourage officials, coaches and players towards good sportsmanship, and a fair play code of behavior.
