Two of the CNMI’s most promising youngsters in the mixed martial arts scene will be showcased in the “Rites of Passage 5: Raging Warriors” on Sept. 27 at the Trench Tech Gym in Afetnas.

The main event will feature Marianas Elite’s Derrick “Pinchi” Rangamar going up against Trench Tech’s Chris “No Luv” Laayug.

The event will also feature first-time grapplers who want to establish themselves in the fighting arena.

Promoter and president of Trench Tech Inc. Justis F. “Cuki” Alvarez said that Rangamar and Laayug are two of the youngest but very experienced warriors from two of the top schools on the island.

“Rites of Passage” is an event that caters mainly to first time fighters and/or those who have fought and want to redeem their performance.

Alvarez said this event is the “proving ground” for young up-and-coming fighters looking to earn their “Rites to Pass” onto the next level.

They have also chance to grapple in bigger and more prestigious events such as Trench Warz and PXC (Pacific Xtreme Combat) in Guam, “where they can earn really good talent fees and fight money.”

Competitors for the “Rites of Passage” are exclusively from Saipan.

Alvarez said there would be at least 16-18 matches lined up for the upcoming event.

The other pairings will be coming out soon.

Tickets are now on sale for $20 at the following locations: Boarderline, 67Zero Rocksteady Shop, Trench Tech Gym, and Hannam Market.
