MBA to host GCA in opener of ’08 Private School V-ball

Marianas Baptist Academy will host defending champion Grace Christian Academy in today’s opening day of action in the 2008 Coalition of Private Schools Volleyball League.

The GCA Eagles and the MBA Stormz will meet at 3:30pm and extend their rivalry following last year’s championship game in the high school division with the Eagles winning the title for three consecutive years.

The other participating teams for the high school division are Calvary Christian Academy, Mount Carmel School, Seventh Day Adventist, and the two teams (Blue and Green) from Saipan International School.

SIS has also entered two teams in the middle school division while the others are CCA, GCA, MCS, Saipan Community School, SDA, and Whispering Palms School.

A total of 14 games, six for high school division and eight for middle school will be played in different venues this week.

The other schedules for today’s games have CCA hosting SIS-B (both divisions); WPS vs. SDA (middle school); SIS Green vs. MCS (both); and SCS vs. GCA (middle school).

Action will resume on Thursday Sept. 11 with CCA hosting MBA (H.S.), SDA vs. SIS-B (both), MCA vs. WPS (middle), SIS-G vs. GCA (both) and CCA vs. SCS (middle).

Each team will play a total of 12 games after two rounds for the high school division and 14 games each for middle school.

Elimination round games will end Oct. 23.

All games are scheduled to begin at 3:30pm with middle school to play first before the high school match-up.
