PTI Voyagers, D’Pirates beat foes in Budweiser 8-Ball
The PTI Voyagers and D’Pirates outshone their opponents to grab the lead in their respective divisions last Tuesday night in the ongoing Budweiser Open 8-Ball League.
Anchored by Jojo Talibong, Roman Rodriguez, Amor Zapata, Ryan Odicto, and Rolly Villanueva, the Voyagers scored a 3-1 win over Islander Rent A Car at Jonny’s Bar.
The Voyagers compiled a total of 117 points (41-40-36) after three rounds as against the 106 (27-43-36) by Islander team of Boyet Sequioco, Don Antonio, Jomer Enriquez, Eric Caisip, and Rey Pinangay.
But most importantly, the Voyagers are now in the solo lead of the six-team field Agingan Division with a 10-2 record while dealing Islander its second defeat in 12 games for a 10-2 record in second place.
In the other games of the Agingan Division, third running Saipan Cell Hustlers outsmarted USSP Wat-Ever, 4-0, at the latter’s home turf while Godfather’s Rock Steady used its home advantage to defeat Coral Reef shark Attack, 3-1.
The Hustlers totaled 135 (46-47-42) points after three rounds while Wat-Ever had 123 (43-39-41).
The win was the Hustlers’ eighth win in 12 starts while Wat-Ever further slipped to a 2-10 record in fifth place.
Godfather is in fourth with a 6-6 mark while Coral Reef is at the cellar with a 1-11 card.
In the Obyan Division, D’Pirates Huwa, which is powered by Ed Suzuki, Ray Basa, Ike Palacios, Ray Takai, and John Camacho, routed home team VFW Warriors, 4-0, to also take the lead with an 11-1 record.
D’ Warriors racked-up a total of 143 (50-47-46) as they outshone the Warriors’ team of Shila Muna, Winfred Camacho, Tawny Barewas, and Nhel Pagaduan, who managed with a 68 (20-27-21). The loss was the Warriors’ seventh in 12 games.
The visiting team and second-running Primos Home Boys also won at the expense of host team Coral Reef Barracuda, 3-1, with total scores of 133 (39-47-47) and 116 (46-36-34).
The Home Boys are 10-2 while the Coral Reef has 4-8.
Krystal Perfect Spotters hosted USSP Fotten Palau and won via a 4-0 count.
The Perfect Spotters improved to a 5-7 card in third place while USSP further dropped to a 1-11 marking.
