Burglars victimize Capital Hill couple
REPORTER[/I]
An unknown number of suspects broke into a couple’s home on Capital Hill Wednesday and took off with several items worth over $1,500.
Victim Christine Santos said around 1:30pm on Wednesday, as she and boyfriend Carlo Evangelista were running errands, the suspect/s broke into their house and stole several items. The couple found out about the incident when they returned home around 4pm.
Santos said the stolen items included a Compaq Presario Laptop with its charger and mouse worth about $1,200, a Trutech brand portable DVD player ($200), a Sony PS2 game console with controller and plugs ($120) and a samurai sword.
Santos said they believe that those responsible for this might be living around the neighborhood.
“I think that they really know us because they didn’t even bother to touch my boyfriend’s parents’ really expensive stuff like T.V. and jewelry,” she said.
She said the suspect/s broke the side window of the house, went upstairs and then left via a back door. The suspect/s also broke a glass cabinet and left the back door open.
She said the suspect/s possibly walked to the forest at the back of the house after getting all they wanted.
She said they immediately reported this to the police, who informed them about previous similar incidents in the area.
“The police came an hour later and talked to us about it and took photos of the broken windows and everything,” Santos said.
