Accountability
Who is going to be held accountable and responsible for our power crisis? The Governor? Lt. Governor? The veteran lawmakers still in office? We have reasons to believe that Senate President Pete Reyes and House Speaker Arnold Palacios are hesitant in entertaining an impeachment process.
We have been told by some elected officials that the legislative branch needs proof beyond a reasonable doubt, strong evidence to substantiate our demand for impeachment before they can act on any impeachment hearing and it might take years to accomplish.
If anyone had been following Gov. Benigno Fitial, Senate President Pete Reyes and House Speaker Arnold Palacios, you will realize and understand what we are now addressing. These three elected officials have had closed door meetings after meetings, including the time we were protesting in front of the Governor’s doorsteps.
The last meeting behind closed doors was to discuss the former governors’ and lt. governors’ annuities. Out of all meeting and current catastrophic threats to our community with our power plants engines, annuities were a priority.
We don’t know who these elected officials are trying to fool nor do they think that we are that ignorant.
Taotao Tano states that the expedited sole sourced contracts under the guise of emergency declarations was the lone sole reason we are oppressed. This administration has failed miserably in its fiduciary duties, including negligence of duties in ensuring the safety and health of the entire people of the Commonwealth. If this is not proof enough beyond a reasonable doubt for an impeachment then what else is?
The previous administration under the helm of then governor Juan N. Babauta and Lt. Gov. Diego Benavente left office with 68 megawatts plus 14.5 megawatts produced by Power Plant 4 that totaled 82.5 megawatts, excluding Power plant 2—our 15 megawatt backup power reserve that was functioning then.
On the emergency declarations for CUC, again the previous administration’s declaration lasted only seven months vs. the current administration who had it for over 2 and1/2 years and we are now faced with a catastrophic eminent threat affecting public safety, public health, public services and general welfare of our entire community. This is the truth.
Today, this administration, along with the Senate President and other veteran lawmakers, continue to point fingers but Taotao Tano is not that naïve or ignorant to understand the reality of this elected officials’ purpose of intentionally running our power plants down to a mere 10 megawatts due to the sole sourced deal with CISCO. Thank God for Power Plant 4, which is producing 14.5 megawatts steadily.
The catastrophic eminent threat to our society should be blamed on the current administration and some members in our legislative branch (they know who they are). Intentionally and deliberately ruining our power plants to force privatization is a crime. To include the eminent and catastrophic dangers we now face is also a crime against humanity and someone has to be held accountable and responsible.
Four sole sourced contractors were paid both locally and federally under this administration yet they have no rehabilitated or repaired power engines to show for it. Instead, they delivered a threat affecting our entire community.
We demand an impeachment and immediate removal of Gov. Benigno Fitial and Lt. Gov. Timothy Villagomez for they do not represent or serve the people of the Commonwealth.
