The latest report released yesterday by the Emergency Management Office predicts worsening weather condition in the CNMI in the next few days due to the influence of Tropical Storm Nuri.
According to the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, Nuri is located about 800 miles west of the Marianas, moving at 17mph, with maximum sustained winds of 45mph.
Yesterday, the CNMI and Guam experienced scattered showers and slight chance of thunderstorms, with southeast winds of 10 to 15 miles per hour and highs around 86.
Last night was cloudy with isolated shower and a slight chance of thunderstorms as well as variable winds and lows around 76.
Today’s weather condition, however, is partly cloudy with isolated showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms with light and variable winds and lows around 76 and highs of 87.
These conditions are expected to happen until the end of this week.
Lighter winds are expected today in the Marianas waters (up to 40 nautical miles) allowing thunderstorms to form.
The Weather Service report warned that a west swell will cause combined seas to build on Wednesday.
