DEQ to hold informative spill prevention training

The Division of Environmental Quality will hold an informative training and outreach presentation to cover recent changes, amendments and updates to the regulation on Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures.

The training will run from July 9 to 21, 2008.

The training and outreach presentation is scheduled for Monday, July 21, at the Coastal Resources Management Office from 1pm to 4pm.

Pete Reich and Norwood Scott, both of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 9 Oil Program, will present recent changes and amendments to the SPCC Rule and an update on the current status, potential future changes, guidance for implementation and requirements of the SPCC Rule with a focus on related facilities on Saipan, Tinian and Rota.

SPCC applies to facilities that have an aggregate aboveground oil storage capacity greater than 1,320 gallons or a completely buried storage capacity greater than 42,000 gallons.
