Pacific Telecommunication Inc. customers have a new place to shop and pay bills after the company on Wednesday unveiled a new store in Garapan dedicated to marketing its wireless products.

Gov. Benigno Fitial was on hand for the event and said the new store demonstrates PTI’s dedication to the Commonwealth during the recent economic downturn.

“Regardless of the current economic climate, PTI is here to stay,” Fitial said. “PTI is committed to the telecommunications business in the Marianas. This new office is yet another example of this company’s solid commitment to the CNMI.”

PTI marketing manager Kathryn Barry said the new store is key to the company’s plans for marketing wireless technology in the Commonwealth, particularly given its “roll-out” of evolution data optimized communications products, a new wireless transmission standard.

“With the exclusive roll-out of EVDO high speed data for PTI wireless phones, customers will want to become more familiar with what their wireless phone’s capabilities are,” Barry said. “The PTI Wireless Express Center fulfills that need.”

The “Wireless Express Center” at the TSL Plaza will have later hours than its store on Middle Road. The shop will serve as an added point for customers to pay bills and purchase phone cards or other products.

“We wanted our customers to have the convenience of multiple locations and extended hours,” Barry said.

The new store’s hours are 10am to 7pm Monday through Friday and 10am to 2pm Saturdays.
