A security guard has entered a guilty plea on charges he was involved in selling methamphetamine or “ice” on Saipan.

In Friday’s hearing, Greggory Sablan Kalen pleaded guilty to distribution and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Alex R. Munson accepted the defendant’s plea and set the sentencing for Sept. 23, 2008 at 9am.

Munson granted Kalen’s request to be allowed to work as a security guard for Japanese Enterprises Corp. during daytime hours.

Greggory Kalen, also known as G., Goro, and Greggory Sablan Kani; Lawrence Kalen; and Manuel A. Sablan, also known as Manny Sablan, were indicted on one count of conspiracy to distribute “ice”, and two counts of distribution and possession with intent to distribute “ice.”

According to the indictment, the three conspired to distribute “ice” on Dec. 1 to 13, 2007.

Greggory Kalen and counsel F. Matthew Smith entered a plea agreement with the U.S. government. The court accepted the plea agreement.

Munson ordered that Greggory Kalen remain at liberty under the same bail conditions as the court had previously imposed.
