The Pacific Islands Club yesterday offered prayers and extended condolences to the family of a 4-year-old girl who passed away Monday after a near-drowning incident at PIC’s swimming pool on Saturday.

PIC executive assistant Vicky Benavente said the staff and management of the PIC Saipan are all saddened by this tragedy.

“We understand this matter is still under investigation by the Department of Public Safety and therefore, comment at this time would not be appropriate,” Benavente said.

Saipan Tribune also learned that the girl’s mother’s fiancé is indeed a lifeguard but not with PIC. The mother is pregnant. Both the mother and her fiancé were at PIC when the accident happened.

Neveah Shanae Sablan Casil had been in intensive care unit at the Commonwealth Health Center where a doctor pronounced her dead Monday at 10:03pm.
