Mountain bike race to benefit charity
The Marianas Visitors Authority in conjunction with the Hyatt Regency Saipan will be staging the Inaugural Ayuda Charity Mountain Bike Race on May 31.
Entry fee for kids is $10 and $15 for beginners and participants in the open division. All proceeds will go into a charitable trust fund account that will provide an opportunity for non-profit organizations to submit a grant application. Details of this program are currently being developed and will be made available once finalized.
The kids race will consist of a two-mile bike race for eight years to 12 years of age. The course will start at Microl Beach and will head north onto the beach pathway then it will turn around right before you pass the Smiling Cove Marina Boating Safety Section.
The race will start at 7am and check-in is at 6:30am. The Top 3 finishers will win prizes. All participants will receive a Tourism Month T-shirt.
The Mountain Bike Race will consist of a short course (four miles) for beginners and a long course (eight miles) for open division participants.
Both races will start at the American Memorial Park (Microl Beach entrance) at 6:30am. All participants who are interested must check-in at 6am. Both beginners and open division bikers will start at the same time at 6:30am and will go up toward Navy Hill Road and will turnaround just before you reach Mt. Tapochao.
The turnaround for beginners will be at the roads between Navy Hill Rd and Denfeld Lane in Navy Hill. Both races will finish at Microl Beach once making the turnarounds. The Top 5 finishers will receive prizes for the open and Top 4 finishers will also receive prizes. This event is part of the Tourism Month Activities and will benefit many non-profit organizations mentioned above.
