HAGATNA, Guam—Amoretta P. Carlson, vice president, Bank of Guam, was recently awarded the Certified Corporate Trust Specialist designation by the Institute of Certified Bankers, a nonprofit organization sponsored by the American Bankers Association in Washington, DC.

With the Bank of Guam since 1983, Carlson has managed the Business Development, Customer Service and Real Estate Departments before joining the Trust Department in 2005. She is a cum laude graduate of the University of Guam, earned while working fulltime at the bank. Married to Lester Carlson, they have three daughters.

The CCTS designation is awarded to individuals who demonstrate excellence in the field of corporate trust. To qualify for CCTS certification, individuals must have certain levels of experience and education in the corporate trust profession, pass an exam and agree to abide by a code of ethics. The exam covers many areas including account administration and management, issuance of securities, regulations, accounting systems and operations.

Financial services professionals, working through the Institute of Certified Bankers, initiated the CCTS and eight others in order to establish meaningful standards of knowledge in specialty areas of the financial services industry. ICB certifications formally recognize those who meet these standards and promote professional continuing education and development. (BoG)
