Herbalizers win third straight
Herbalizers got back into contention in the 9th Annual Pacific Islands Club-Miller Lite Spring Co-ed 4-Person Beach Volleyball League at the PIC sand courts.
After losing its first three games, the Martin Castro-captained Herbalizers chalk up three straight wins the last an 11-0, 11-9, 11-0 thrashing of Spike’A’Sauras last Thursday.
Herbalizers climbed out of the cellar to tie their victims at sixth place with a 3-3 record behind league-leading Fatingali’s unbeaten record, 5-0.
Kiss My Pass, which did not play last week, is also undefeated after four games followed by the 5-1 mark of 15 Of Fame and Angan’s 3-1 slate. MHS Peers, which briefly enjoyed a taste of the lead, dropped to a 3-2 card.
Herbalizers last loss was a heart-breaking 11-9, 11-6, 11-9 decision against Tsunami on April 23. They broke their three-game slide with back-to-back come-from-behind wins over 670 Boom Boom, 5-11, 11-9, 11-5, and Snap Crackle Pop, 9-11, 11-6, 11-6, on April 29 and 30.
Their latest win proved they can go toe-to-toe with the rest of the competing teams.
Other members of Herbalizers are Larry Sharry, Greg Elliot, Julius Saito, Felicia McFarland, and Tiger lee.
In other Thursday games, Brabu downed MHS Okies, 11-1, 11-8, 11-7, while MHS Young Guns tripped MHS Peers, 11-6, 12-10, 11-3, and 15 Of Fame defeated Spiked Punch, 11-4, 11-5, 11-6.
On April 30, Kiss My Pass beat MHS Peers, 11-3, 11-8, 11-6, Spike’A’Sauras clipped Spiked Punch, 11-5, 11-5, 9-11, while Fatingali notched their fifth straight win with a 12-10, 11-3, 11-5 win over Tsunami.
Games today will have 670 Boom Boom, Brabu, Gigi, and Snap Crackle Pop testing MHS Peers, 15 Of Fame, Spike’A’Sauras, and Fatingali. Games will be played from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
Tomorrow, MHS Young Guns, MHS Okies, Kiss My Pass, and Angan will face Brabu, Spiked Punch, 15 Of Fame, Herbalizers. On Thursday, Brabu, 15 Of Fame, Gigi, and Spike’A’Sauras take on MHS Peers, MHS Okies, Tsunami, and Snap Crackel Pop.
Last year, top seed Limarh completed its amazing one-loss season when they scored a 15-7 win over the Sand Smackers to win the title. They finished with a 10-1 card tallying 346 points, while limiting their opponents to 225 and winning 27 sets in the three-month long tournament.
