A son of former senator Ramon Deleon Guerrero who was charged with sexually abusing a minor girl twice entered a guilty plea yesterday in the Superior Court.

Pasqual K. Deleon Guerrero, 22, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree.

Associate Judge Juan T. Lizama accepted Guerrero’s plea and set the sentencing for Aug. 6, 2008 at 10am.

Lizama directed the Adult Probation Office to prepare a pre-sentence investigation report.

The Attorney General’s Office in January 2007 charged Deleon Guerrero with one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree and one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree.

The defendant and his lawyer, Viola Alepuyo, signed a plea agreement with the government represented by assistant attorney general Joseph Taijeron Jr.

Under the plea agreement, the defendant will be sentenced to 10 years, all suspended except for zero to five years in jail. The judge will determine the prison term in that zero to five years range after the submission of a pre-sentence report.

The agreement also recommends 10 years of probation, a $500 fine, and 250 hours of community service.

The factual basis of the agreement stated that on or between June 1, 2006 and Aug. 2, 2006, Deleon Guerrero, at that time 20 years old, engaged in sexual contact with a girl who was then 11 years old.

According to court papers, the Department of Public Safety started investigating the incident in January 2007 after receiving a call about the matter.

Apparently, the girl confessed after her parents confronted her about somebody seeing her and Deleon Guerrero watching a movie.
