The Northern Mariana Islands Football Association will have a busy three months ahead as they continue their activities lined up for the year.

NMITF president Russ Quinn said he decided to release their schedule of events or races that they will be organizing to keep their members updated. “So you can [also] plan your training schedules accordingly.”

Tomorrow, NMITF members will participate in the Club Elan 5K Fun Run at the American Memorial Park where men’s and women’s open, men’s and women’s 30-39, men’s and women’s 40-and-over, 18-and-under, 12-and-under, and 8-and-under are the age divisions going to be offered.

The distance for adults is 5K while the kids will have a shorter course of 1K and 2K.

The NMITF will organize the second kids triathlon this season on May 3 when triathletes as young as six years old will compete in three age divisions.

The NMITF will also support one of their own in the May 11 “Run 4 Ron” 5K fundraising race at Micro Beach inside the American Memorial Park. The course to be used is the same course in the Club Elan 5K Fun Run organized by Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Club Elan.

The 5K fun run and walk is veteran runner Ronald Villafria’s fundraising event to help him finance his scheduled trip to Tokyo, Japan, where he will compete in the 2008 Mt. Fuji Marathon or Fuji Tozan race on July 25.

Proceeds of the Sunday fun run would help defray the cost of the Coco’s Restaurant employee’s plane ticket for the Japan trip.

Quinn also scheduled a Full Moon Night Ride for biking enthusiasts on May 18 that serves as a warm-up event for the May 31 Hyatt Regency Saipan-Marianas Visitors Authority Mountain Bike Ride. Details of the Hyatt-MVA race will come out soon.

On June 14, local triathletes will compete against their visiting Japanese counterparts for the 9th Turquoise Blue Triathlon & Reef Swim. Teams are allowed for the Tinian Triathlon.

Quinn also reminded everyone of the NMITF’s regular Sunday Group Fun Rides with three different course for all levels.

Other events to be held by NMITF for the year are a sports yoga and bike maintenance clinics.
