The second “major” golf tournament in the Commonwealth is set to tee off two Saturdays from now on April 26 when the 6th Annual NMC Foundation Open is played at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort.

According to organizers, the 2008 editor of the tournament will adopt a medal play format and will utilize a special double Peoria on all men’s flights.

In addition to first, second, and third place prizes for the flights, the tournament will include hole-in-one prizes.

The lucky golfer who makes a hole-in-one shot has a chance at winning a 2008 Mazda 3, courtesy of Triple J; or $25,000 in cash from Bank of Hawaii; or another $25,000 in cash from AON Insurance; or a $5,000 cash prize courtesy of Century Insurance.

The tournament will have a shotgun start of 7am. Proceeds from the 6th Annual NMC Foundation Open will go toward the needs of the islands’ lone tertiary institution.

Entry fee is $85 per player which goes up to $100 after April 19. Interested players are invited to join their family, friends, and playing partners for a “fantastic day of fun and fundraising for a good cause,” according to organizers.

The evening before the tournament, organizers of the 6th Annual NMC Foundation Open will hold a special sponsors cocktail party at the Club V of the Saipan Grand Hotel as well as post-tournament banquet for players at the Hyatt Regency Saipan poolside on game day.

For registration information, contact Mark Mendiola at 234-5498 ext. 1050 or visit Triple J Motors, NMC cashier’s window, or the Laolao Bay Golf Resort to sign up.
