The Belau Amateur Softball Association honored the top performers of its recently concluded Masters Softball League in a simple ceremony held last Sunday at the Dandan Elementary School Field.

The awarding was held after the three-game championship series between Salty Boyz and PTI 83, which the former won.

Salty Boyz’s first baseman Darwin Masaharu led the list of awardees after winning the finals most valuable player trophy for his consistent hitting in the three-game series going 8-for-9 with eight RBIs.

Mabel Ngirngemelas was named the regular season MVP after collecting three individual awards. He had the most runs scored with 16, connected with four triples, and had 18 RBIs the whole season.

Leo Bobai beat Masaharu for the batting crown going 22-for-35 with a .629 average against his teammates’ .556. The tireless Reno Celis claimed the doubles crown with five while Charito Eungel blasted three outside-the-park four-baggers becoming the league’s home run king.

Manny Tenorio earned the pitching title after having a 2.82 ERA in the nine games he played. He pitched a total of 67 innings and gave up 92 hits with 51 runs—27 of which were earned.

Donald Flores was the league’s strikeout champion after retiring a total of 23 batters all season long. Steve Brel was also the recipient of the shortest player award beating three other nominees.
